Canine Menopause?

Canine Menopause ?

Unlike humans, dogs don’t go through menopause. Dogs have a heat cycle about every six months.

This can be affected by breed, age, and the individual dog and its health. Unfortunately older dogs are

still fertile but many more health problems can occur with older dogs and pregnancy.

Cancer of the Mammary glands, is far more common in unspayed female dogs. Another high risk

medical condition in older unspayed dogs is pyometra, this is a life threating illness. Bacteria gets into

the uterus causing the uterus to fill with pus. Both these conditions are more prevalent in unspayed

dogs.  Good reasons to SPAY!
